What sort of mill did you get? I'm assuming it's a vertical mill, but what brand? I'm sure you will soon find out how versatile and handy a mill is.

Cool cool I'm about out of spruce so I may grab some of those tops when you sell them. The real thing you have to watch on those old mills is backlash but that can be fixed and you just have to be sure you are conventional cutting on those machines. Grab you some dial indicators, or you can put a DRO on it, and you will be making some stuff in no time at all. Hopefully it'll come with a set of R8 collets. Otherwise you will have to get you some. |

Chris, I see by your profile your location is DC, which surely means District of Columbia. I lived in Fairfax from '86 to '95 and had the good fortune to run across a similar stash of old wood and materials when Joseph Wallo closed his shop in Arlington. If it is not confidential info, I'd be curious to know whose wood stash this was. Congrats on the nice find. |

Cool cocobolo. Very dark stuff isn't it. Interesting grain. If you have an extra back set it would make a cool drop top IMO |
